Managing Induction & Probation
Introduction:
Employees need to fully understand their role and how it can contribute to the overall objectives of the organisation. The integration of an employee into a team can prevent individual issues at a later stage.
This workshop examines the importance of the role of the line manager in managing induction and probation by ensuring that any performance or conduct issues are resolved prior to permanent confirmation in post.

Line Managers and Team Leaders at all levels whose responsibilities include the induction of new
employees and managing the probationary period.
Course objectives:
On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Explain the necessity of making the staff member feel welcome and fully aware of their role and responsibilities at the commencement of their employment
- State the legal requirements which must be communicated at induction
- Discuss how to integrate and socialise the staff member into the workforce
- The use of ‘buddies’
- Describe how to effectively set and monitor performance standards and the format of a formal review
- How to bring the employment relationship to an end within the probation period

- Plan and manage induction for new staff members
- Set and monitor initial performance targets
- Identify and address development needs
- Formally review the progress of the employee since joining the organisation
