A broad introduction to the safe use of steps and ladders (roped and un-roped) at work. The course has both classroom content and practical exercises involving the use of equipment.
It will introduce the employer and employees duties for the use of work equipment and explain the relevant legislation as well as the responsibilities that these bring.
There will be a detailed explanation of the different types of steps and ladders, their components and maintenance requirements and how to identify faults.
Practical sessions include safe setting up of steps and ladders and considerations to take into account of the working environment. This will include the hierarchy of the law and so introduces the responsibilities for risk assessment prior to starting work.
At the end of the course delegates will have an understanding of the current legislation and the safety essentials for the avoidance of the most common types of accident caused by using steps and ladders improperly.
