Approved 2 Day First Aid at Work Refresher Course
A Health and Safety Executive Approved two-day course that meets the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The Course is delivered in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for re-qualifying First Aid at Work certificate holders.
Selection of suitable candidates:
Candidates must hold a current (in date) First Aid at Work certificate issued by any HSE Approved training organization.
Content:
The skills of patient care essential to support the life of an ill or injured person are covered in four days, of which practical applications and hands on practice are emphasised.
Candidates will receive Training in a range of first aid skills including-
- The ability to act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work
- The ability to administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively
- The ability to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a patient who
- Is unconscious
- Is wounded or bleeding
- Has been burned or scalded
- Is suffering from an injury to bones, muscles or joints
- Is suffering from shock
- Has an eye injury
- May be poisoned
- Has been overcome by gas or fumes
- The ability to transport a patient safely as required by circumstances of the workplace
- The ability to recognise common/ major illness and take appropriate action
- The ability to maintain simple factual records and provide written information to a doctor or hospital if required
Course Outcomes:
Candidates who successfully complete the both the practical and theory assessments will be issued a First Aid at Work Wall Certificate. This certificate is HSE approved and is valid for 3 years.
